Patriots Match Longest Winning Streak Since Brady Era with Win Against Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five scores this season
New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady period as they defeated division opponents the Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the Patriots secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win increases the New England's advantage at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's opening drive
But the Patriots responded in the second period as the rookie ran in two short rushing scores before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He desires to be outstanding."
Justin Fields threw to John Metchie toward the end of the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the win
