The second-hand marketplace Members Share Displeasure About Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
